MTB State Summit
Tue, 06 Nov 2018 15:00:00 +0000 Mountain biking is a quickly evolving sport. There are thousands perspectives from forum threads, trail advocacy groups, manufacturers, etc. There’s no shortage of opportunities, great ideas and passion.  Groups learning how to differently organize locally while working together holds tremendous opportunity. The Vermont Mountain Bike Association, the Michigan Mountain Bike Association and the Jersey Off Road Bicycle Association are eager to encourage this momentum. On November 6-7, VMBA, MMBA and JORBA will be hosting the first MTB State Summit in Grand Rapids, MI.  We’re going to turn the traditional summit model upside down and you’re a big part of making that happen. Here’s how: Every organization will have an opportunity to share its best trick in a “poster session” – everyone can contribute to the knowledge base. If you like an idea shared by another organization, take a picture – it’s yours! Click here for more details Everyone in attendance will have the chance to add to the knowledge base by contributing to a “rolling topics” platform where anyone in attendance can contribute to multiple organizational building techniques – this content will be summarized and shared Want a to walk away with a trail grant? Proceeds will go towards two trail grants – more details on the grants will be sent to registered organizations Presentation topic list: Diversifying the sport Navigating organizational growth Working with Chambers, CVBs and tourism groups Membership platforms Incorporating for profit perspectives to stewardship Building a trail grant Events – the good and the bad Fundraising strategies For details, full schedule and information on accomodations, visit:  https://vmba.org/18-mtb-state-summit/ FAQs How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please email Melissa Werkman, MMBA Executive Director at melissa.werkman@mmba.org. How do I make host hotel reservations? he MTB State Summit will be held at the Holiday Inn - Downtown Grand Rapids (https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/grand-rapids/grrpe/hoteldetail). The Holiday Inn is offering Summit attendees a discounted guaranteed room rate of $142.00/night Standard Double/Double Occupancy. (King bedded rooms are not available at this discounted group rate). All guest rooms are subject to local and occupant tax in effect on the date of arrival, currently 15%. Inventory on the rooms listed at this rate is limited so be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible after registering. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and checkout time is 12:00 PM. Guests arriving prior to 3:00 PM will be given access to their rooms, as they become available. Requests for “late check-outs” will be assessed on an individual basis. Guests departing after 12:00 PM, may also store their luggage.  TO MAKE ROOM RESERVATIONS:  Individual Call- in. Guests may call into the hotel directly at 616.235.7611 in order to reserve their own guestrooms on or before October 23, 2018 . Guests should refer to MICHIGAN MOUNTAIN BIKING ASSOCIATION when making their reservation to insure they get the proper discounted group rate.  I registered for the Summit but can no longer attend. What is your refund policy? A 100% refund will be granted if requested prior to October 5, 2018. After October 5th, refunds will not be granted but a transfer can be made to another participant but payment details and any hotel reservations will need to be made between registrants. Please contact Melissa Werkman at melissa.werkman@mmba.org to make the name transfer.  _______________________________________________________________________________________________________
